Exclusive Gracie Abrams on her Chanel debut, Eras Tour and Bows.

Gracie Abrams Reflects on Theater, Touring, and Her Chanel Debut

For Gracie Abrams, the magic of high school theater gleaned in the camaraderie of tech week. “Every memory I treasure from school goes back to theater,” she shares. It was the collaboration that was the best part, “working on a group project together,” that stayed with her, a feeling she now finds mirrored in the whirlwind of touring. “It’s like the same circus,” she muses, drawing a line between those exhilarating experiences and the grand stages she now commands.

Abrams is gearing up for the tour’s final shows in Vancouver before launching her own global journey through Europe and Asia. Reflecting on the Eras experience, she calls it “magical for a million reasons.” “Being part of something extraordinary every single night felt like such a privilege.”

Now, Abrams has taken her love of collaboration into another realm: fashion. As the face of Chanel’s spring/summer 2025 pre-collection, she stars in their latest campaign directed by Sofia Coppola and shot by Craig McDean. From sporty baseball jackets to elegant tweeds and pearls, Abrams embodies the house’s fresh, multifaceted vision and she’s owning with aplomb.

Gracie Abrams and Sofia Coppola on Bows, Style, and Serendipitous Collaboration

Gracie Abrams and Sofia Coppola might not have crossed paths before the Chanel campaign, but the admiration was mutual. For Abrams, working with the iconic director felt surreal. “It was such a crazy dream of mine to collaborate with her in any capacity,” she gushes, still wrapping her head around it.

Coppola, for her part, became enchanted with Abrams’s world during a Radio City Music Hall concert she attended with her daughter. “I didn’t realize your bow was a thing,” Coppola tells Abrams, recalling the sea of fans donning the singer’s signature accessory. “The room was full of girls with bows—it felt like a secret society.”

Abrams laughs at the phenomenon,“It’s funny how it stuck,” she says. “Now, it feels like this token that connects people.” She even wears one in the campaign, an ode to her signature look.

This collaboration also gave Abrams a chance to embrace the transformative power of fashion. While her offstage uniform is typically jeans and a sweater, she avails opportunity to experiment for performances. “The stage has become an excuse to step out of my comfort zone,” she shares. “The more I’ve grown into myself, the more I’ve felt inspired to try new things.”

With Coppola’s artistic touch and Abrams’s confidence, the Chanel campaign feels like a celebration of creativity, individuality, and the magic of shared symbols.
